VIEW FROM THE CITY WALLS

Last Sunday my sweetheart and me took a walk around the City walls. She did it first time although she's born in Dubrovnik and has been living here all her life. Well, probably there are places that you've never seen and you live just a few minutes away.

Dubrovnik city walls were built in 16th Century in this shape and you must see it if you come here. The walls are 2 Kilometers long but we walked only southern part of it and it took 2 hours because I took 150 photos. I hope that these 8 will just make the whole picture clear to you. Big thanks to Mr. Dove who was my model for 5 minutes although I stood just a few Centimeters next to him.
When I look these pictures and nice weather on them it's hard to believe that only 2 minutes before climbing the walls it was raining.

DALMATIA IN MY EYE

In Dalmatia everything is in boats, fish, olives, narrow streets,stone,chit-chating and wine. „Take it easy“ kind of life...

STREETS OF MY HOMETOWN vol.1

For typical Mediterranean places as Dubrovnik, the cart has always been the main transport through the narrow streets. It carried big stuff, small things, sometimes even kids or people...the cart's done its job fair to its very end. And man's got old with the cart and been looking forward to it. In a stone street, just next to the old door, having break to next transport...

In memory to my Dad and his own made wooden boat for my Mom and him back in sixties. Despite everyone praises own age, some things will never be the same again...

Tipical phenomenon in the Mediterranean places is the afternoon break with full belly of fresh fish and wet throat of domestic wine. Hm, maybe only fresh fish...

Some 30 years ago there were only a few restaurants and today nobody can count them. Although almost every of them is in a hurry to earn some fast money, this one has something else. Maybe that's the reason why nobody's in it...

Old houses with columns without purpose and ivy on the walls are just a shady reflection of the former glow of my hometown, its gardens and terraces, its paths and small streets, its playful children and their relaxed parents...

This type of green has always been the colour of my hometown. Shutters were green, fences were green, gates were green, front doors, back doors...so this type of green everybody used to call Dubrovnik-green. Today only this fence at Boninovo is still green...

Green for windows and doors, orange for roofing tiles. Orange has still been resisting...
